My name is Barış Gümüş, I have been engaged in cosmetics sector since 2000 both as a producer and retailer. I was awarded with the Productivity Award of Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and Top Quality Rose Award in 2014. When I heard about IPARD grant supports, I visited the Isparta Provincial Coordination Unit of ARDSI to learn more about them. I decided to benefit from this opportunity. My objective was to produce cosmetic products like perfumes, cologne and soap by using the essential oils of rose and lavender that I purchased from the neighboring producers. I have set up my enterprise through the IPARD support and it is one of the most modern enterprises in this sector. I also provide internship to the students of the Technical High School of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Exchange Commodities. I have increased the number of employees to 27 including the ones assigned in the marketing section. Our production capacity and turnover have tripled. I could not set up this facility with my own resources, I always trust my decisions, but I needed financial support then, and this has been met thanks to IPARD. My enterprise is getting stronger day by day. Presently foreign firms lead the market but it is possible to establish domestic firms which can compete with them. Turkey has great resources for cosmetic sector and I urge all the investors to establish modern enterprises in order to utilize these opportunities.
