The workshop, within the framework of "Technical Assistance Project for Revision of Rural Tourism Concept under IPARD II Programme" Project, co-financed by European Union and Republic of Turkey, was realized by General Directorate of Agricultural Reform/Department of Managing Authority for EU Structural Adjustment on 08-09 October 2019 in Ankara.

The staff of Managing Authority, Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Department of European Union, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey as well as the relative units of our Ministry and NGOs related to rural tourism and also representatives from Local Action Groups, universities and rural tourism entrepreneurs have participated in the workshop chaired by Dr. Muhammed ADAK, the Head of IPARD Managing Authority.

Following the opening speech of Dr. Muhammed ADAK, in the first day of the Workshop, a presentation on rural tourism under IPARD II Programme was done by Managing Authority and a briefing was given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on rural tourism in Turkey and the legislation. Italian and Polish experts were also presented their experiences on rural and agro-tourism policies and implementations in their countries. The first day of the workshop was completed after the presentations of NGO representatives and the entrepreneurs of the rural tourism.

In the second day; roundtable meetings were held with the active participation of the stakeholders to find out how rural tourism should be in Turkey. At the end, the opinions and the proposals raised by roundtable sessions were shared with all participants.
